The classic appeal of leather meets the modern luster of stainless steel in this analog watch from Seiko. With a polished stainless steel casing and authentic leather straps, the Seiko SNDC31 classic brown leather analog watch is a timeless classic among timepieces and centers on a Japanese quartz movement for precision-perfect timekeeping.

It features luminous hands, dual-time function, and a handy date window so you’re always updated with the right time and date. The beige dial and black numbers makes crystal-clear viewing possible, while a scratchproof hardlex crystal window keeps the dial and its components safe and right where they should be.

Do not let its classic look fool you though, because the SNDC31 incorporates Seiko technology that produces a reliable and hands-free operation. The watch is water resistant up to 330 feet, which means that it can withstand water activities like swimming, surfing, snorkeling, and more and fits in perfectly with its durable design.

Seiko SNDC31 timekeeping features

The analog watch display of the Seiko SNDC31 is powered by the time-tested Japanese quartz movement for superb timekeeping accuracy. The dial color is in beige while the numbers are presented in black so it’s easy to read the time with just a quick glance.

The silver-tone hour and minute hands along with the black second hand are all luminescent for that added utility on dark places. A dual-time feature is also included, along with 60 minute, 60 second, and 1/20 second gunmetal sub dials. Top it all off with a date window and you won’t have to miss out on the time and date ever again.

Case design

Seiko-SNDC31-3

Polished stainless steel makes up the round casing of the Seiko SNDC31. This case material has been a mainstay in the watch industry as it’s more affordable than titanium but offers a number of advantages over the latter. One of these is that despite being shinier, stainless steel provides better scratch-resistance and allows scratches to be rubbed off.

If desired, you can even have it gold plated to take on a whole new look. The underside of the case is also made with stainless steel so it’s equally as durable. To protect the dial and its components, the window cover is made with hardlex crystal for extreme scratch-resistance.

Strap design

Nothing beats the feel and smell of real leather. Since it’s from Seiko, you can ensure that the straps of the SNDC31 are 100% calfskin, and never cheap bycast, bonded, or faux leather. The SNDC31’s brown leather strap features a nice reptile print that simulates a handcrafted appeal and makes it look as natural as authentic leather can be.

This lets the watch go well with just about any outfit, from a casual and rugged getup to dressy and formal attire. Aside from providing that true leathery comfort, the strap is also more flexible and durable. To complete the classic leather look, a traditional tang-type buckle clasp locks the watch securely around your wrist so it stays on even when you’re on the move.

Seiko-SNDC31-1What’s to love about the SNDC31…

The classic design of the SNDC31 from Seiko just proves that you do not have to have a ton of elaborate features for the watch to look good and work well. This watch is very stylish, and really catches the eye when worn. The brown leather strap goes really well with the watch face, it has clearly been well thought out and put together.

The Seiko SNDC31 runs very smoothly and is very accurate too. You will not have to worry about the watch losing much time, it uses Japanese Quartz for its movement and is very precise. We love the versatility that this watch provides.

You can literally wear it with anything and it will look great. So if you want one watch that you can wear all the time, for work and casual wear then this is a really good choice. The price of the watch is also a massive plus-point too, you get a lot of quality and value at its selling price.

And what’s not to love…

Both the minute and hour hands on the watch are the same color as the watch face, so sometimes they blend in and are not the easiest to see at a quick glance. Just a darker outline of the hands would have done the job. The date window is also very small, so again it may require a double-take before you see what the date is.

Although the hands are luminous too, they are not very bright at night so do not expect them to produce a bright glow that can easily be read. This problem is certainly not exclusive to this particular model or brand, we have seen the same with many watch brands too.

Is the Seiko SNDC31 a good option?

Our view is that the SNDC31 is a very good option to buy as it ticks most of the ‘positive’ boxes. If you are hard of sight, then this may not be the best choice due to the hands being the same color as the watch face, but if you have good vision then this is not a deal-breaker in our opinion. The Seiko SNDC31 looks incredibly stylish, it runs very smoothly and offers great value for money too.
